The All-In-One GPS System – Pharos Traveler GPS 525

GPS systems are common, and typically only provide GPS technology. Pharos has taken a step ahead, in the technology market, and introduced a GPS system that not only offers GPS capabilities, but also includes many technologies offered on PDAs. Pharos Traveler GPS 525 comes with everything you need to track locations and directions, along with the other great technologies.

The GPS 525 ships with a?PTL525 GPS receiver, windshield bracket mount, AC adapter, 12-volt car charger, USB SD card reader, headset, 512 MB SD card, navigation CD with U.S. maps and users manual come with the unit.

In addition, the integration of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 gives users a GPS system that does more than give you directions. Because of the integration of Windows Mobile, users now have the ability to use applications, such as Word, Outlook, and Excel, from one unit. From your Pharos Traveler GPS 525, you can now synchronize with your system, with your Outlook contacts. Navigation and GPS positioning has never been easier.

Pharos platform lays on a SC32442X 300 MHz processor, 64MB ROM, 128MB SDRAM, SiRF starIII GPS receiver, and 512 MD SD memory card – all of which offers great performance for its users. It also comes with maps for 50 major U.S. cities. If users were to load all of these maps, additional memory would be need for other functionality.

Preloaded maps are a grand benefit to consumers, but the points-of-interests, available through the GPS mapping software, can be much more useful. Finding your favorite restaurant or bank has never been easier. With a couple clicks, or the use of your stylus pen, points-of-interest are easily accessible.

With measurements of 2.34 x 4.32 x 0.69 inches, the Pharos Traveler GPS 525 can easily slide into a pocket for easy travel. The average battery life, typically around 9 hours, gives you plenty of charge time on the new unit. Additionally, Pharos integrated VoIP technology, which allows you to use your GPS system as a phone.

The technologies, integrated into the Travel GPS 525, make this system function like a PDA. Because of the nature of such a unit, the price tag is usually around $600. This is obviously more than a standard GPS system and average for a smart phone.

The screen resolution, on the GPS 525, is 240 x 320, which tends to be a bit small for those attempting to view maps while they are driving. Additionally, there is no lock button on this unit; therefore, storing it in its travel case is highly recommended.

If you can get around the sticker price, and the fact that the screen is a bit difficult to read while driving, the functionality is impeccable. The only question to ask yourself, at this point, is do you want a PDA with GPS functionality, or a GPS with PDA capabilities. If you are looking for a GPS, which has a little more to offer than a standard GPS system, and you can get around the slightly elevated sticker price, then the Traveler GPS 525 is the decision.

iPhone Tutorial – 5 Tips When Traveling Abroad With Your iPhone

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Author: Louis Slabbert
Source: ezinearticles.com

I have recently started traveling around the world and have relied immensely on my iPhone to make the journey more enjoyable, prevent loss of information, and even point me in the right (or if I wish random but interesting) direction.

I will briefly teach you my favorite 5 top tips for traveling abroad with your iPhone

It is remarkable how much the world, as well as our daily lives have changed since the advent of mobile phones and in particular smart phones, such as the iPhone 3g by Apple. Some of us can remember the days when we use to make appointments once a day and kept them because there was no way to communicate the change of plan unless you were at home. Nowadays we need to be able to use the tools to our disposal to make better informed decisions… Even when on holiday or traveling.

The fact that there are websites that cater solemnly for providing high quality iPhone tutorial videos and cheat sheets is testament to this new wave of technology.

The cost of traveling with the internet in your pocket

With the recent advances, especially with the large amount of high quality Internet-connected applications that are available for the iPhone, trying to accomplish your daily tasks without the Internet on your phone becomes a problem.

This is a dilemma myself and other high frequency or power users of the iPhone have faced when having to travel abroad with your iPhone, which brings a few interesting challenges with it when you find out the roaming rate for data is between

Rights Or Not, GPS Trackers Have a Place

When it comes to debating the rights of criminals vs. those of victims there are no clear winners. What remains is a healthy debate between the two sides that seemingly will never be resolved. Victims of theft are often left with feelings of violation and anger towards the subjects who took their property.Criminals always seem to have a reason why they did what they did. Beyond this debate lies the landscape of theft prevention and prosecution. Both of these have their limitations, but that does not mean that they should not be used. Looking at the prosecution side of the argument should be an examination of the role of GPS trackers and how they can help recover stolen property and return it to the rightful owners. GPS tracking devices are neutral when it comes to the debate between these two sides, but when utilized properly, they are effective. Here’s how:

Attach to assets. When you use these units to make your property traceable if it is ever stolen, then you automatically place yourself in the position of being able to retrieve it right away and finding out who has the property.Being able to have access to this information is good for both yourself and society as a whole.

If you need additional information from GPS tracking devices, you can also track for use and abuse as well.
Tracking with precision. You can track your property to within a few feet of its actual location, track for direction of travel and even speed. This data can also be useful for when others are using them. Then, if there is a problem, it can be addressed based upon facts and not speculation.

Lower insurance costs. If you use your GPS trackers for your vehicles, you can obtain a reduction in your monthly premiums because of it.Insurance companies like to lower their risk on the things they insure and they are willing to give back by lowering premiums when it helps their cause as well.

Provide reports of activities.Need detailed reports of where and when your property was used in your absence? You can get it with a GPS tracker.By using NavIQ software and the right model of device this information is placed at your fingertips on your computer.

The debate between victims and criminal rights will continue, but for now, it is best to protect yourself and property by obtaining GPS trackers. It is a decision you will not regret.

Which Is The Best Sat Nav Gps System?

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Have you ever got lost and asked for travelling directions? Now these days are long gone. Now you would no longer have to ask for directions with the invention of GPS tracking systems. This device can track your position and let you know exactly where you are. Knowing which of the many gps models or styles is ideal for you could be a difficult decision.

There are many gps systems out there, your first decision will be which system you require. If you are looking for a GPS for your car, receivers are made just for use in cars and other motor vehicles and can be part of a navigation system or not. If you are looking for something to take on trips with you for hiking, camping or biking purposes a hand held unit might be what you are looking for.

If your a biker or hiker then obviously a car gps system should not be your choice, instead choose one of the many handheld gps systems. There are two types of receivers with handheld gps systems, non-mapping and mapping. With handhelds it would be advisable to carry a paper map also. GPS units are excellent tools but run on batteries can become defective if dropped and depending on the model may or may not be water proof.

Below are some features you should receive with a non mapping receiver. It can provide you with your location, the direction you are heading, what time it is, miles you have travelled, directions back to where you started, and the route to your destination. It will also record the route you have taken to arrive at your destination.

Mapped gps devices are the same as non mapped devices. But with the extra feature of displaying computer maps. These maps can be installed by default or downloaded.

Another option is to look at a versatile handheld machine called a PDA. These personal data assistants come with gps features or at the very least an adapter for you to plug into to get gps features.

Fear not you sailors there is a GPS special made for you. The gps systems sailors have different features than the more conventional gps system. Boats do not use maps unless in a designated water way.

GPS units can be a great way to keep from getting lost and track your position if you are lost.

They are a great alternative for those large papers maps and are a great time saver. If you do a lot of driving, hiking, camping, or boating having a GPS unit is a good investment.

No more panic attacks when you are lost just switch on your gps and it will tell you your location and give you directions to your destination.

A Happy Medium With Satellite TV

Most children love television. This is a commonly known fact and it is an issue that parents can struggle with. While many people enjoy television, there are a lot of negative things said about the damaging effects that too much television watching can have on the brain, especially those of developing children. Fortunately, a lot of television programs have adapted to this concern and there are more and more educational shows available than ever before, especially for individuals with satellite TV. The large array of channels means that parents and children can watch programs together, bonding and learning at the same time.

Channels like Disney and Nickelodeon have cartoons that teach children how to count, read, and even learn Spanish. Even programs that do not have blatantly obvious lessons like adding and subtracting still try to teach children a lesson. Many shows are filled with entertaining stories that revolve around a moral that they want to convey to the child audience. Having a giant purple dinosaur that they love tell them to be nice to other children in high definition will get the point across much better than having a parent or teacher lecture them about right and wrong.

Aside from cartoons there are plenty of educational channels that children and adults can both benefit from. Watching the “Planet Earth” series together could open up the eyes of everyone in the family to different parts of the world and animals that they never knew existed. The variety of shows that satellite TV makes available can have a whole family traveling back in time together, learning about the city constructs and social practices of 15th century England or taking a virtual tour of the Roman Coliseum. Television has the unique ability to making learning more fun and interesting than the average day to day textbook.

Watching cooking shows, music videos, and travel shows can expose children to different cultures around the world. While all of this is good, not all of the material on television is suitable for children, but luckily parents can block certain channels from being accessed by kids. Being able to monitor which parts of satellite TV a child has access to increases the chances that their relationship with the TV will be an educational one. Just like adults, kids can travel the world from the comfort of their home using nothing more than their remote control.

While it is still not a good idea to leave a child in front of the television for hours on end everyday, letting them watch some truly educational programs could inspire them to get out and do something. Watching a great soccer game could motivate a child to head outside and kick a ball around, or hearing the announcer in another language could spark an interest in learning a second language. The wide variety of programs that satellite TV provides means there are multiple lessons to be learned and a vast amount of information for children to absorb. The television does not have to be viewed as the enemy of a developing child’s mind.

Direct TV offers the most HD anywhere. There are great Direct TV deals available now.

Travelling the Highways – Aging Parents and GPS Tracking

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Author: James Neely
Source: ezinearticles.com

There are few things more disconcerting than watching as your parents take to the interstate highways of America for their annual trek to warmer climates for the winter months. There are two reasons for concern.

First, the highways are not a friendly place. Not only are there inherent dangers from the possibility of accidents and the like but also from people with evil intent in their hearts. There have been too many stories that recount a tragedy that could have been avoided.

Next, there is concern for their well-being while they are travelling. Some people in the age group who travel in this way are not exactly 100% healthy. The fear that they could be caught out on the road somewhere and have a medical problem that needs immediate attention looms large.

That is why it is more important than ever to have their vehicles outfitted with a GPS Tracking system. Is this an incredible leap in logic?Maybe, but when a device is used that allows for real-time monitoring, family members can keep up to date with travel progress and make sure that they do not deviate from a pre-set course without some kind of communication.

Location/direction of travel/speed.Depending on the model selected, data can be gathered that tells the exact location, their speed, and direction of travel. If they are going on a long vacation, you can track their progress and note their stops and the time spent at specific sites and attractions. You can keep a log for them so that when they return, they can put pictures and locations to dates and times.

Peace of mind from knowing. Are they where they are supposed to be at the appointed time?If not, with a simple check on a website, you can discover their whereabouts.Did their car break down?If so, where are they and how can they be located by authorities? Are they in a traffic jam because of an accident? That would explain their stationary position on the map and interstate system.

Cell phone signals are weak in some areas, and remote sections of highway are sparsely travelled compared to others. In other words, help might not be readily available. But, nothing escapes the ‘eyes’ of a GPS Tracking system.

This fall, breathe a sigh of relief as you track the progress of Mom and Dad as they venture out.You will find that this is one of the best investments of a few hundred dollars that you will ever make.

Direct Tv Goes To School

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Author: David Johnson
Source: articledashboard.com

In recent years the use of satellite television has grown much – not only in our homes but in our schools. The reason behind this growth is simple. There are many advantages of satellite TV networks, benefits that can not be found in traditional entertainment solutions such as cable. As a result of these advantages, there is increasing number of people who are interested in purchasing the services of satellite TV networks. Direct TV has made a name important in this regard. It is a name people trust and want to use. One reason for this is that Direct TV offers the opportunity to teach their children through the use of educational channels offered by Direct TV. It is known that many students can learn quickly if their learning experience is enriched by the addition of audio and video effects to books. It is a very important problem of school teachers. They have to think about using more than one medium of instruction in class so that students understand and learn. The books are, without doubt, the best source of education, because they may be taken over and the student can also go through the lesson more than once. This improves the chances of their learning. But if television is used in this sense the results are surprising. When the channels of education are in the classrooms, the effect is very positive. Children learn so much to see something like the fact that audio and colors you're seeing is very positive and reinforces your learning ability. This gives educational channels an advantage over other modes of instructions generally used by teachers in the classroom for their students learn. Books are a very good source of learning in general. They are a resource that the student can read many times. But there are still some issues that may be far better explained to a student if the video is running even once. He or she will be able to understand in detail the overall phenomenon and there is no problem with that. Thus, the education channels to customers for the Direct TV network is an asset in this regard. Teachers take the form of these channels to help teach their students. One advantage of using packages from Direct TV in the classroom is that students can learn about various topics and hands as donors still need to go anywhere. They are safe and learning is much greater. For example, students can learn about the underwater world through the vision of the programs offered by these channels. The programs will be guided in this regard. They will be sitting safely in your classroom, but the experience will be as if they are traveling under water and explore the world below. The effects of audio and video capture student attention. It is therefore imperative that students learn much more than the experience of learning from books alone. By having the network coverage in television direct classroom can also improve the learning experience of students by offering many news channels as well. The information and knowledge on current issues can keep up to students, offering news programs of the channel. There are many other channels that are educational in nature and can enhance the learning experience. These are some of the reasons, because the teachers prefer to use the services of Direct TV network in the classroom.
